t o r o is the collaboration between portuguese architects Rodrigo Castro Pereira and Tomás Palmares, whose early professional experience spans from London to Santiago de Chile - working with Pritzker Prize laureates Sir Norman Foster and Alejandro Aravena - and converge back in Lisbon in 2014.

Since then, they have developed a variety of projects that combine architectural ambition with a practical understanding of cost, construction and the development process - always looking for balanced solutions that make the most of the available resources.

Rodrigo began his career in London in 2004, working with Pritzker Prize laureate Sir Norman Foster at Foster+Partners.

After returning to Lisbon in 2009, he worked with Risco on competitions such as the Algarve Hospital.

In 2010 he moved to Costa Lopes where he lead multidisciplinary teams designing large-scaled projects located in Angola.

Tomás began his career in Santiago de Chile in 2011, working with Pritzker Prize laureate Alejandro Aravena at his do-tank ELEMENTAL.

In 2017 he became ELEMENTAL’s Lisbon local representative. From 2017 to 2024 he worked on the design and followed the construction stage of EDP’s headquarters II. From 2026 on he is working on the design of a private house in Douro.
